Counterpoint Systems has been building rights and royalties software for the entertainment and licensing industries since 1987. Music publishers, record companies, film production and distribution companies all use Counterpoint to access thousands upon thousands of records for song titles, composers, producers and royalty rates. Counterpoint was preparing to port its existing text-based music publishing application to a browser-based interface. To make navigating around the application fast and easy, Counterpoint integrated Nitobi's ComboBox into the application. Nitobi ComboBox is an Ajax-powered auto-complete component that can be easily added to web-based apps.

When a large division of the Department of Defense hired Corporate Technology Partners to build a web application, CTP looked for fast, simple solutions to help them deliver a robust web application as quickly as possible. Not only did the web app need to run quickly on DoD's massive intranet, it was critical that the users like the new web application and not find it difficult to switch from the client-server version. CTP used Nitobi Grid to integrate a data grid into the web application and contracted Nitobi to customize the component. Nitobi Grid allowed CTP to immediately and effortlessly 'plug in' a rich, production-ready grid into the web application.

Greg Scott had a unique vision. He wanted to create an online marketplace called Jiibe where users could hunt for the ultimate job and work environment. The user-powered, online service would help employees and job seekers find corporate cultures that fit their values and work styles. It was an inspired idea that required flawless execution. "I knew I had to work with Ajax experts. The research I did pointed to Ajax as the best tool to use for what we were trying to do with Jiibe," said Greg. After meeting Nitobi's CEO, Andre Charland, Greg confidently handed Jiibe's development over to Nitobi. "I could tell immediately that these guys are closely tied with what's happening with Web 2.0. They live it. And they helped me realize the importance on building a user-centric application," he said.
Jistik's Chargeback Recovery Environment (CRE) helps manufacturers and wholesalers recover invalid chargebacks and deductions. A chargeback occurs when a retailer sends an item back from the store to the wholesaler. Jistik hired Nitobi to help build a user-friendly interface for the CRE. By tailoring its Ajax-powered components, Nitobi built an intuitive data organization structure and an easy-to-use interface for viewing large amounts of data. The full-featured Web 2.0, hosted application incorporates modified versions of Nitobi Grid, Calendar and Call Out.
Overlay.TV is making its mark on online video. The Ottawa-based company designed a unique application that makes it easy to add hyperlinks and images to video clips destined for the web. The premise is simple. By embedding interactive hyperlinks in video, content creators, owners, publishers and e-commerce sites can go a step further in monetizing videos by overlaying contextual information directly onto video and linking to external websites. Overlay.TV brought Nitobi Inc. on board to develop easy end-to-end workflow for content creators using YouTube to upload their videos in the desktop version of the Overlay.TV application. Nitobi worked with Overlay.TV to help build a desktop application with Adobe AIR that closely resembles the existing Flash movie application system.

International logistics and shipping firm, Schenker of Canada Ltd., needed a new resource planning system that would reduce the manual effort and complexity involved in accessing pricing information in its outdated, cumbersome system. Rather than manually transferring information from emails and PDFs to Excel spreadsheets and MS Access databases, Schenker needed an online internal pricing system capable of processing and analyzing large amounts of raw data into clear, concise outputs. Schenker used Nitobi's easy to deploy Grid component to mimic Excel spreadsheet behavior, provide copy-and-paste interoperability with Excel, enable real-time communication with the server to commit data to the database, and provide on-demand access to external information.
StomperNet needed a custom browser that would enable website publishers to understand just how little of their website that their users were actually seeing, doing to our so-called "foveal gaze" or tunnel vision. They needed a development partner that had an understanding of usability, ActionsScript and Flash as well as deep knowledge of web browser's and the Document Object Model (DOM). Nitobi went to work developing an Adobe AIR app to fit the bill. Based on StomperNet's spec, the team built out the custom browser's user interface, and added features for capturing screenshots and auto-updating the software. In the process, they ported Andy's existing work from ActionScript 2 to ActionScript 3.

Webex was embarking on a complex project to rebuild the Flash components of the WebEx website so that graphic designers could easily generate new Flash files from Webex's content management system (CMS).
